Raffy and Thed: LBC's Mirror-Image Career Success Story
The tremendous growth of LBC’s cargo-forwarding business in North America may have been the result of the intersection in the career paths of two career-minded individuals with a similar approach to managing people and resources.
LBC, the Philippines’ premiere player in the logistics industry, had lately seen some remarkable achievements in its corporate results, thanks largely to the exceptional teamwork between its two management executives who oversee the North American operations.
One of them is the savvy and super-creative Thed Tesoro, LBC Sales and Marketing Specialist, who covers all of Eastern USA market that includes Florida, New York, Jersey; the Midwest – Chicago, Ohio, etc. and of course the Mid Atlantic – DMV area. In his role, Thed was instrumental in growing the business and expanding market coverage through creative digital and traditional marketing as well as boots on the ground intensive recruitment and training of business partners in the area. His creative ability to come up with ideas that build market share and brand visibility, coupled with his knack at crunching numbers about industry trends in order to achieve the desired profitability results, have endeared him so much to his boss and tutor, Raffy Policarpio, Country Head of LBC’s Canadian and North American operations.
Raffy is the other half of this teamworking duo. A seasoned corporate executive with previous successful stints with UPS, DHL and other major players in the logistics industry tucked under his belt, Raffy is the guiding light that stands behind the creativeness and productivity of Thed, his marketing guru. Together, they complemented and empowered each other towards the achievement of LBC’s growth and budgetary targets.
One might ask – what makes this work tandem click? For one, Thed and Raffy are both Greek-lettered frat members from the oldest university in Asia – the University of the Philippines. They are also presidents of their respective local chapters in North America. Both are responsible family men who understand how to achieve the ideal work-life balance. Thed, a gen-xer, is a loving husband and father to wife Therese and his 2-year-old son Theo. On the other hand, Raffy, along with lovely wife Rose, have managed to raise their grown-up children, John, Christina and Frances, who are likewise successful in their own rights.
Perhaps, the fruitful and effective relationship between this work team of Raffy and Thed can be attributed to their having mirror-image of the same educational background, personal interests and career and work experiences. Or just being head of the family and head of their fraternity. Or put simply, maybe it is just synergy in action.
