USPAAI Chairman Atty. Eric Gene C. Pilapil ‘86 is a seasoned legal professional with a wealth of experience in both corporate practice and litigation. With an educational background from the University of the Philippines, where he earned his Bachelor of Laws in 1993, and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1989, Fellow Eric’s career spans over three decades of legal expertise. Employed since 2000, Fellow Eric now serves as the First Vice President for Legal, and is the Corporate Secretary of Stradcom Corporation, where he notably led legal negotiations and helped secure several funding cycles for the US$90 million nationwide build-own-operate I.T. project. He played a key role in the first securitization transaction under the Securitization Law of 2004 and had also previously overseen departments such as human resources, procurement, and corporate communications. As Of Counsel at the Francisco Paderes & Morales Law Offices, Brod Eric has additionally managed litigation and other major projects, including the PhP6.5 billion Land Titling Computerization Project. Early in his career, he worked as a Senior Associate at the Padilla Jimenez Kintanar & Asunsion Law Offices, and as an under Bar Legal Assistant and Manager at the Philippine National Construction Corporation, where he honed his skills in civil, criminal, and administrative litigation. Prior to being acclaimed as the USPAAI Chairman for the incumbent term 2025-2027, Fellow Eric also served as the Corporate Secretary for the USPAAI from 2021 to 2023, contributing to the very successful term of then Chairman Martin Romualdez ‘85 and President Ed Sunico ‘86.

President

USPAAI President Gerry ‘89 is currently the Administrator of the Land Registration Authority, an attached agency of the Department of Justice. He is the third Upsilonian to have been appointed to the position. President Gerry comes from a family of public servants and Upsilonians. A full-blooded Bicolano and a Caviteño by choice, he has worked and resided in Cavite for many years. He is the father of Gerard 2011 (Centennial IF Diliman) and Miggy 2015. He completed his basic education at San Beda College Alabang and earned his BA in European Languages, major in German and minor in Political Science, from the University of the Philippines Diliman. While working in various roles, he pursued and completed a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Perpetual Help Rizal in Las Piñas as a working student. A lawyer by profession, he has over three decades of experience in both public and private sectors, having served across all three branches of government—as Branch Clerk of Court in the Judiciary, Provincial Legal Officer in Cavite’s executive branch, Legislative Officer in the House of Representatives, and legal staff at the Commission on Audit. Appointed in August 2022 by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., upon the recommendation of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, Administrator Sirios has since introduced reforms to modernize property registration, improve service delivery, and build public trust in the agency and the Torrens system.

Trustee Jose Raulito (“Raul”) E. Paras 1990 is a lawyer. He is the founding partner of the Padernal & Paras Law Offices. He also serves as a commercial arbitrator in the Philippine Dispute Resolution Center, Inc. since 2014. He is a member and occasionally sits on the board of the Philippine Bar Association. Additionally, he currently serves on the boards of several listed and unlisted corporations and was a Bar Examiner in the 2024 Bar Examinations. Raul has extensive experience in the practice of law. He handles various civil and criminal cases and remains active in trial and appellate litigation. In the past, he was a faculty member of a few law schools. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in 1993 from the University of the Philippines and, later on, his Bachelor of Laws in 1997 from the San Beda University College of Law. He was valedictorian of his graduating law class and placed 5th in the Bar Examinations. In 2003, he finished his Master of Laws at the University of Sydney, Australia. Raul joined the Upsilon Sigma Phi in 1990 during his undergraduate years. He is currently a mentor in the fraternity’s mentorship program. Several lawyer Upsilon fellows currently work or have worked in his law office. He manages a basketball team in the Hoops and was the previous Chairman of the Upsilon Pumapalo (2020-2022).

Jojo joined Upsilon Sigma Phi in 1989 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accountancy (BAA), a double-degree major, from the UP-Business Administration College—Diliman in 1991. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He started his career as a financial analyst in Ayala Land, an Ayala Group subsidiary. In the banking industry, he is fondly called "Jojosan." He spent more than 25 years managing the financial reporting, local regulatory, management information, statutory requirements, legal management, controllership, and taxation of two global banks, Citibank and Deutsche Bank, covering 13 countries in the Asia-Pacific Region. After his early retirement in 2021, Jojosan joined an accounting firm. He recently joined the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) as Vice-President for Frontline Technical Services under the Office of the President and General Manager. He played a key role in the Bloomberg automation of the GSIS Portfolio Management front and back office. Jojosan is the father of Robert Gabriel 2015 and Robert Uriel 2020 and uncle to Gerard 2011 and Miggy 2015, sons of brother-in-law Gerry Sirios '89. Jojosan has been reappointed as the USPAA’s Treasurer for the current term, having served in the same position in the previous term. Now, as before, he remains a member of the Executive Committee. He heads the Finance Committee, which safeguards the USPAA's assets and capital by providing transparency, accountability, and completeness of all information and data related to the fraternity's finances.

John Joseph D. Gutierrez 1975 is a seasoned commodities trader and business leader with decades of experience in import-export and manufacturing representation. A UP graduate in philosophy and political science, he pursued legal studies at UP College of Law before entering the trade industry. He began as a commodities trader in 1980, later managing rice mills and raw materials for B-MEG Feeds under Eduardo Cojuangco & Sons. As General Manager of Dilomar Trading Corp., he oversaw rice wholesale and exports for San Miguel. Since 1983, he has led American International Trading Corp., representing top U.S. industrial and plumbing solutions manufacturers. With extensive industry expertise and international trade training, Gutierrez remains a key figure in the sector.

Tito Mora ‘78 is a dedicated servant-leader committed to helping the lost, the least, and the last. He currently serves as the Executive Director of I Will Serve Foundation, Inc., where he leads initiatives focused on community development and faith-driven service. He is part of the Core Group of the Archdiocesan Good Governance Apostolate, advocating for ethical leadership and civic engagement. Additionally, he is a member of the Multi-Sector Governance Council of the Northern Mindanao Medical Center, contributing to collaborative efforts in improving public healthcare services. Tito also brings professional expertise to his role as Marketing Manager of Swift Travel and Tours, where he combines business acumen with a heart for service. Residing at Orchid House, Pontefino Estates in Cagayan de Oro, Tito continues to live out his mission of making a difference through faith, compassion, and action.

Alfred Norman M. Jeanjaquet is an alumnus of La Salle Green Hills (LSGH), having graduated in 1981. He is a graduate of the University of the Philippines. He was a member of the UP Geology Alumni Association, Inc. Currently, he resides in Houston, Texas.

Dominic Gonzales ‘84 has been a dedicated professional at RR Donnelley under Sony Music since 2001. Beyond his career, he is an active leader in the Upsilon Sigma Phi community, currently serving as Chairman of Upsilon Sigma Phi North America. His commitment to the brotherhood spans across global events, having played key roles in organizing major reunions: as Co-Chairman of the 2020 Global Reunion in New York and as part of the organizing committees for the 2024 Global Reunion in Las Vegas and the upcoming 2026 Global Reunion in Singapore.

Dr. Alan 1986 is a respected ophthalmologist and leader whose work has restored vision and brought hope to countless individuals. As the head of the Upsilon Medical Assistance Program’s (UMAP) Medical Triage Team, Alan has led a team of 17 Upsilonian doctors, assisting over 900 fraternity members with their medical needs. His leadership ensures timely referrals, financial advisory support, and compassionate care for Upsilonians and their families. Alan’s unwavering commitment to service extends beyond the fraternity through his participation in numerous medical missions across the country, offering critical eye care in underserved areas.

Rico joined the Upsilon Sigma Phi in 1986 and is the son of Ruben ‘57. He received his BS in Agricultural Economics, majoring in Finance from UPLB. After graduation, Rico worked in the field of developmental economics, agribusiness systems and the food industry with focus on the international market, serving in management and as a consultant. Presently, he is an entrepreneur, with business interests in the animal nutrition and health industry. He served as the President of USPAA Davao from 2010-2013

Charvy 1989, as he is fondly called, has over 20 years of experience as a Physical Therapist. At the moment, he practices privately and specializes in treating Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA)/stroke patients, musculoskeletal injuries and its rehabilitation and in geriatric care. Charvy is the preferred Physical Therapist of most of our Brods, Sisters, their friends and families. Charvy '89 studied Civil Engineering in U.P. Diliman and decided to shift to the medical field and graduated Cum Laude and Class Valedictorian with a BS in Physical Therapy at UERM in 2002. As a resident fellow, he was one of the main organizers of the Indignation Rally for Cochise Bernabe ‘81 in 1990. He also headed the "Balik Basement Program" for Alumni Fellows as part of Upsilon Month in 1990. He was the overall head of the Upsilon Month (first month-long celebration) in November 1991. Charvy also served in the fellowship council as Fellow Orator in 1991. At the moment, Charvy is the overall head of the SPREADLIGHT program, a noble initiative that brings our tradition of fellowship to Upsilonians who are unable to take part in our gatherings due to sickness or age. He has been helping implement this program since 2017. Charvy is the father of Margelo 2022, a 3rd year UP IntarMed student. He was the Head of the 20th USP Congress held last February 8, 2025 at the Imelda Hall of Aguado Residences in the Malacanang Complex.

Ramon Marcos Pernia joined the fraternity at the Diliman campus in 1991. With a BA in Political Science in 1994, he has over 30 years of staff and management experience, mainly in the energy sector. He was President and COO of a boutique energy advisory firm, engaged in Business Development for a Solar Energy Company, and with an Investment Management company in the electric distribution and tertiary education sector. He was also in the Philippine Stock Exchange, and his only government stint was with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority. He is currently a Vice President for Aboitiz Power Corporation a Philippine listed company engaged in Power Generation, Distribution and Sales. A certified fun dad, he considers fatherhood to his two lovely daughters his most important job. He is married to Cookie, a Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist. He spends most of his downtime listening to vinyl and shanking mulligans. He is the current USPAA Trustee in charge of Branding and serves on the Membership, Fellowship, and Communications Committees.

A veterinarian and entrepreneur, Fellow Cary Landingin Calimlim ‘93 has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to leadership and service. Founder of Vetremedica Corporation, his business success is grounded in ethical principles. Cary’s leadership extends to the fraternity, where he serves as Chairman of the Upsilon Sigma Phi Los Baños Alumni Association (USPLBAA). His initiatives have bridged generational gaps within the fraternity through mentorship programs, alumni networking events, and the revival of the Ortigas Fellowship. Known for his integrity and fairness, Cary is a firm believer in leading by example, often saying, “It is better to lose a friend than lose your sense of integrity.” Beyond his professional and fraternity roles, fellow Cary actively participates in community engagements such as medical missions, gift-giving programs, and environmental conservation initiatives, including advocating for Philippine eagles through the Philippine Eagle Foundation. Through his commitment to Brotherhood, Integrity, Excellence, Leadership, and Service, fellow Cary continues to inspire others to embrace the fraternity's values in all aspects of life.

Lester 2001 graduated from UP Los Banos with a BS degree in Agricultural Economics. He was a full-time working student when he completed his Juris Doctor from the Arellano University School of Law in 2016. He is a practicing lawyer based in Makati City and a faculty member at Arellano University School of Law and the University of Asia & the Pacific. Aside from his academic work, he serves as adviser to both universities' bar operations commissions. His legal work focuses on labor law and human resources management, corporate governance, and energy law as a consumer advocate. Aside from his professional pursuits, he is a kendoka affiliated with the Makati Kendo Club. He has served the Upsilon Sigma Phi Los Banos Alumni Association for three (3) terms before joining the USPAA.

Erik ‘03 is a visionary entrepreneur and expert in blockchain technology, particularly in its application to real-world assets and real estate tokenization. As the Founder and CEO of OFI Inc., you have successfully driven innovation in the property and blockchain sectors, creating platforms and solutions that modernize and enhance the efficiency of real estate transactions. With a focus on leveraging blockchain for transparency, security, and efficiency, you have been instrumental in developing a platform designed to tokenize real estate assets. The platform allows for the secure purchase, sale, and rental of properties using digital tokens, streamlining processes that traditionally involve cumbersome documentation and procedures. Your work on the RWA Tokenization Process has set new standards for compliance, payment systems, and property verification in the blockchain space.

Felipe L. Alpajora 2014, Jr. is a UP College of Fine Arts alumnus (BFA ‘92) and served as a faculty member in the Visual Communication Department from 1995 to 2015. A seasoned entrepreneur, he founded Visual Arts Room (1995–present) and Cinepress (2005–2010) and is currently COO of Krokis Art & Graphic Design Services and a founding partner of Neoprinting Corporation. During the pandemic, he co-established Vaxcen Corporation and Glovax Lifescience Holdings Corporation, advocating for accessible vaccines and spearheading efforts to build the Philippines' first vaccine plant. Committed to the UP community, he founded UNITED PEYUPS in 2006 to strengthen alumni-student ties through sports. He now serves as a UPAA Board Trustee (Assistant Treasurer), working to foster deeper alumni engagement. He also leads key Upsilon Sigma Phi sports initiatives as Chairman of Hoopsilonians (2024–present) and 2023 Upsilonians na Pumapalo Chairman (40th Year of Pumapalo). Previously, he served as Chaplain/Adviser (2015–2019).

Dr. Gene Gerald San Juan Tiongco 2020 is a leading plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgeon. He is the Immediate Past President of the Philippine Association of Plastic Reconstructive Aesthetic Surgeons (PAPRAS) and the National Secretary for the Philippines to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). He serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at UP-PGH’s Department of Surgery, Division of Burns, and an Active Consultant in Plastic Surgery at St. Luke’s Medical Center - Global City. He is also an Associate Director of St. Luke’s Physician Relations Group and Co-Chair of the Philippine College of Surgeons (PCS) Subcommittee on Burns. Dr. Tiongco trained in plastic surgery at UP-PGH and has been a PAPRAS board member since 2012. He holds a Master’s in Hospital Management and is an international faculty member of the International Master Course on Aging Science (IMCAS). A dedicated volunteer, he actively supports Smile Train Philippines and Operation Smile. He is a member of the Philippine College of Surgeons (PCS), the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), and The Aesthetic Society. He is the son of Gari ‘62 and Gladys SDP ‘67 and brother of Gari II ‘91.

A Juris Doctor from the University of the Philippines College of Law, Fellow Javier Flores ‘89 is a partner at the Flores & Ofrin Law Office, with expertise in corporation law, property, and litigation. Beyond the courtroom, Javi has made a name for himself as a publisher and editorial force. He is the co-owner of Milflores Publishing, a multi-awarded publishing house known for producing books that seek to elevate Filipino literature. He also founded League Magazine, a publication that spotlights the best governance practices of local leaders. Javi is also a two-time Master Photographer of the Camera Club of the Philippines. He was a former Associate Editor of the Philippine Collegian, the country’s oldest and longest-running student newspaper. Javi also served two terms on the Board of Editors for the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Law Journal.

Juan Lucas Antonio Buenaflor 2023 is the Executive Director of the Upsilon Sigma Phi Alumni Association, Inc. (USPAAI) for 2025-2027. A student leader, he has served in the UP School of Economics Student Council and as Chairperson of the University Freshie Council. At UP, he co-convened BUILD UP 2024 and held key roles in Diliman Games, the University Job Fair, Econ Week, and the National Youth Congress. As Fellow Orator, he leads the fraternity’s Special Projects Committee and spearheaded UpsilonCares - the residents’ flagship service program. Beyond UP, he is the President of Kilos Ko Youth and a Political Officer for Senator Francis N. Pangilinan ’81. He previously interned at the UNESCO Philippine National Commission under Secretary-General Ivan Henares ‘98. Before entering UP, he worked as an Account Executive Intern at BCD Pinpoint Direct Marketing, handling key accounts like UNICEF Philippines and DAVIES Philippines. An alumnus of the Kaya Natin! Movement and the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats, he is also a recipient of the Gerry Roxas ‘46 Leadership Award. He is currently a second-year BS Economics student at the UP School of Economics.
