Fellow Jose Edgardo "Ed" Sunico '86 was chosen as one of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association's (UPAA) distinguished alumni awardees for 2023. The UPAA grants the Distinguished Alumni Awards to individuals with outstanding achievements in their fields of endeavor. Fellow Ed '86 received the recognition for his advocacy of "Corporate Social Responsibility."

Fellow Ed '86 is the head of communications and corporate affairs for the Philippines and Southeast Asia of Unilever. He is the immediate past president of the Upsilon Sigma Phi Alumni Association (USPAA).

The annual UPAA Alumni Awards is an independent award program that gives recognition to U.P. graduates with exceptional achievements in their fields, careers or vocations.

The awarding ceremonies were held at the Ang Bahay ng Alumni in U.P. Diliman on August 19, 2023 in conjunction with the 2023 U.P. Alumni Homecoming.
