The Upsilon Sigma Phi congratulates Fellow 𝗔𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻 𝗕. 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗮 '𝟬𝟲 for completing his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Geo-information and Remote Sensing at Wageningen University & Research (WUR), the Netherlands. WUR was recognized as the number one in Agriculture and Forestry and number two in Environmental Sciences in the QS World University Rankings for 2023. WUR was also chosen as the top university in the Netherlands for the 18th consecutive year.WUR's motto is "To explore the potential of nature to improve the quality of life."

Fellow Arnan previously served as a Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing Specialist for a number of international and local institutions, including Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the World Bank Group, UP Los Baños and Resource Environment, and Economics Center for Studies, Inc. (REECS). Arnan was also elected as a member of the Sangguniang Barangay in San Agustin, Bay, Laguna from 2007 to 2012. He is currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at WUR and contributing to the European Union projects Open-Earth-Monitor and SELINA.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from UP Los Baños in 2009 and  obtained his Master of Science degree in Geo-information Science from WUR in 2018. His PhD thesis titled "𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘜𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘭 𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘷𝘦-𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘪𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘔𝘢𝘱𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘖𝘣𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯" and was evaluated by the academic committee as "very good" (9.0 out of 10).
