Dr. Rufino "Nonong" Bartolabac '69 Receives Dr. Evelyn Tantamco-Gusi Award as Outstanding Physician

š——š—æ. š—„š˜‚š—³š—¶š—»š—¼ "š—”š—¼š—»š—¼š—»š—“" š—”. š—•š—®š—暝˜š—¼š—¹š—®š—Æš—®š—° 'šŸ²šŸµ was recently honored with the Dr. Evelyn Tantamco-Gusi Award as one of the 8 Most Outstanding Filipino Physicians in 2024.

The Dr. Evelyn Tantamco-Gusi Award is a prestigious recognition established to honor the legacy of Dr. Evelyn Tantamco-Gusi, a dedicated pediatrician and reserve colonel in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. In tribute to her unwavering dedication, the award was created to recognize physicians with outstanding quality and humanitarianism who embody her spirit of service.

Dr. Nonong has had extensive work experience where he served as the Philippine Medical Association Bicol Governor during the periods 2009 to 2010, 2014 to 2015, and 2022 to 2023. Moreover, he was the President of the Ilocos Norte Medical Society from 1989 to 1990 and Chairman of the PMA General Assembly from 2015 to 2016. He also received several awards including the title of Most Outstanding Physician by the Ilocos Norte Medical Society in 1990 and by the Masbate Medical Society in 2001, 2010, and 2013. Furthermore, he was a distinguished finalist for the PMA-UNILAB Dr. Jose Rizal Memorial Awards for Community Leadership in 2015 and 2018.

He studied at the University of the Philippines Diliman, earning his Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine from UP Diliman in 1971. He furthered his pursuit of medical qualification and later graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center College of Medicine in 1975.
