U.P. Promenade Rehabilitation Project Underway
The USPAA has approved the rehabilitation and repair of the U.P. Promenade. The promenade is a flagship project of the Upsilon Sigma Phi in U.P. Diliman and was inaugurated in November of 2018 as part of the fraternity's centennial celebration.
The rehabilitation, repair and refurbishment of the promenade is now ongoing and will cost approximately 2.9 million pesos. Funding for the project was provided by the USP Centennial Committee from funds raised during the centennial with the current USPAA Board committing to help raise funds for future repairs and maintenance.
USPAA Chairman Roel Z. Castro '84 signed the Notice to Proceed (NTP) on October 2nd after the Board reviewed several bids and proposals for the project. USPAA flagship projects committee chairman Glenn Panganiban '97 and USPAA trustee Gari "GT" Tiongco '91 assisted the Board in determining the scope and cost of the rehabilitation project. Former USPAA Chairman Mon Allado '73 acted as the Board's consultant. The contract was awarded to Lopzcom Builders Corporation.
The rehabilitation project includers the replacement of all tiles, strengthening of trusses and installation of new roofing, concreting and Stampcrete , repair of all damaged benches and the replacement of rotted wood.
"Per our schedule, we are on track to finish the project within sixty days," said Gari Tiongco.
Earlier this year, the USPAA completed the rehabilitation of the Kapit-Kapit monument in U.P. Los Baños. The monument was another flagship project of the fraternity which was also inaugurated in 2018.
