PEZA Bares ₱33B Ecozone Projects
The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) announced in July that it has pre-qualified ₱33B in economic zone projects nationwide. These projects will be located in Cebu, Batangas, Cavite, South Cotabato, Quezon City and Makati.
PEZA Director General Tereso Panga ’86 said these projects will consist of three manufacturing ecozones, one information technology center and four IT parks. The proposed projects will be reviewed by the Fiscal Incentives Review Board (FIRB), the government agency that approves and grants tax incentives. Brod Panga counts the streamlining of the ecozone proclamation process among many of his agency’s achievements with the PEZA board passing a resolution to reduce the number of documentary requirements in the prequalification process.
Panga also said that the investment value of these proposed ecozone projects represent over 500% increase over a similar period last year. The largest project is the ₱27B manufacturing ecozone which will be known as the North Cebu Economic Zone to be built in Medellin, Cebu.
