Published August 29, 2023

Early Monday morning last 14 August 2023, the Rotary Club of Makati sprang into action. A delegation led by RC Makati president Bing Matoto, his daughter Anne, PE/Dir Keith Harrison, and community director Rodrigo Segura, traveled to Cabanatuan for an impactful service project in that city in Nueva Ecija province.

Arriving at the San Antonio de Padua Chapel, the RC Makati delegation was warmly met by the Club’s project partner, Fr. Noy Oliveros of the St. Nicholas of Tolentine Cathedral Parish, along with representatives from RC Cabanatuan North led by President Martin Esteban and PDG Dindo Berino.

Holy Mass was officiated by Fr. Noy. Following the service, a brief program took place, highlighted by a message from RC Makati president Matoto.

The RC Makati delegation then began distributing school bags and essential supplies to 20 children from Barangay Imelda. That books-and-supplies distribution is part of an initiative known as “Tulong Dunong,” which targets to provide 460 public school students in 23 barangays in Cabanatuan with the tools they need for school when it opens in late August.

Next stop for the RC Makati team was at the Imelda Integrated School, where the team participated in the pre-school opening “Brigada Eskwela” project.

The Club’s contribution to education was through the “Books Across the Seas” initiative, in which 500 books were donated for the young students’ use.

The school administration expressed its gratefulness by presenting the RC Makati delegation with a Certificate of Appreciation.
