Diliman Residents Join U.P. USC in Typhoon Relief Operations

Published August 8, 2024

On July 27, 2024, the Upsilon Sigma Phi conducted its 5th installment of UpsilonCares and provided assistance to 𝗨𝗣𝗗 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹'𝘀 𝗜𝘀𝗸𝗼𝗢𝗽𝘀.

In cooperation with volunteers from the community, the Fellows were able to provide hot meals and offer free medical consultations and medicines in Pook Arboretum, Barangay UP Campus, Quezon City.

In pursuit of our imperative of service, the Fellows actively contributed by preparing 250 hot meals and integrating themselves with the community members, understanding the realities they are facing. This endeavor, along with the medical consultation booth staffed by physician fellows providing free medicines, is particularly relevant as some areas of Pook Arboretum were affected by the recent flooding caused by Super Typhoon Carina.

That same day, resident fellows provided assistance to the UP Diliman University Student Council's IskoOps initiative. By lending a hand to the USC, relief packs were distributed to those affected by the typhoon, including 40 packs to jeepney drivers of the UP Transport Group and 80 packs to the community in Lupang Pangako, Payatas, along with the distribution of 500 hot meals.

By dedicating itself to these initiatives, Upsilon Sigma Phi reaffirms its mission of providing greater service to our fellow Filipinos. That through Upsilonian work ethic and our collective effort, we can be responsive to the needs of our community, the nation, and the world.

With this, the Upsilon Sigma Phi extends its sincere appreciation to the SK Officials, Pook Leaders, Community Volunteers, and our sponsors for helping the fellows deliver this noble mission.
