Resident Fellows Conduct Medical and Legal Mission for PDLs in New Bilibid Prison

On August 26, 2024, National Heroes Day, the Upsilon Sigma Phi conducted its sixth installment of the monthly #UpsilonCares initiative and provided hot meals and medical and legal assistance for the persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in the National Bilibid Prison Minimum Security Compound in Muntinlupa City.

Together with the PDLs, the fellows prepared 500 hot meals primarily for the elderly within the compound. Fellows also manned booths offering legal and medical assistance for the PDLs.


This outreach was made possible with the help of Bureau of Corrections 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗣𝗶𝗼 𝗣. 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝗿. ’𝟴𝟰 and Department of Justice 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝗼 𝗟. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗼 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰, and in partnership with Rightway Pharma and San Miguel Pure Foods. Undersecretary Marco 2024, who was present at the event, also delivered a speech to the beneficiaries.


The Upsilon Sigma Phi extends its gratitude to the PDLs, detention officers, and our sponsors for giving the fraternity another valuable opportunity to serve our fellow countrymen.
