Panganiban Joins Influential Global Plant Protection Bureau


In another milestone, Director Gerald Glenn F. Panganiban, Ph.D. has made history as the first-ever Filipino to join the prestigious Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM) Bureau, representing the Asia region. After the 19th Commission on Phytosanitary Measure in March 2025, Director Panganiban will step into this influential role, becoming part of a select group of seven distinguished members from across the world, shaping the future of plant protection and international collaboration.
As a crucial member of the CPM Bureau, Director Panganiban plays an essential role in providing strategic leadership, ensuring the efficient management of both financial and operational resources, and driving the advancement of the IPPC work program in Asia. With this bold step forward, he is at the heart of global efforts to protect plant health and foster sustainable agricultural practices worldwide.
Director Panganiban has also been serving as member of the Standards Committee since 2021. The SC is responsible for overseeing the IPPC Standard Setting Process, managing the development of International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs), and providing guidance and oversight to the work of Technical Panels (TPs) and Expert Working Groups (EWGs).
