DOH Secretary Herbosa Wins 2024 Gusi Peace Prize
Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Teodoro Herbosa was recently recognized by the Gusi Peace Prize International for his significant contributions to public health.
In his acceptance speech, Herbosa expressed his gratitude to the award-giving body.
“Most of the awardees are humanitarians who have done not only efforts of peace, but efforts to show love for their fellowmen,” Herbosa said.
“I'd like to recognize my many students in medicine, where I taught in the university that I continue to do to help save lives, our colleagues, the nurses, other people who helped us to deliver good healthcare,” he added.
As a 2024 Gusi Peace Prize Laureate, Herbosa was honored for his exemplary leadership in improving healthcare access, enhancing emergency preparedness, and strengthening the Philippines' public health systems.
His achievements include advancements in public hospital development, contributions to the national Covid-19 response, and innovations in global trauma surgery and emergency medicine.
The Gusi Peace Prize International, based in Manila, recognizes individuals and groups worldwide who promote peace and uphold the dignity and value of human life through exceptional service.
