Three Upsilonians from Batch 2000 Garner Awards for Medicine, Business

Three Upsilonians from USP Batch 2000 were recently honored for their achievements in the fields of business and medicine.

Dr. Paco Abes 2000 was honored as one of the UNTV Public Service Awardees of 2024, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to public health and service. This award underscores his commitment to charitable initiatives and his significant impact on community well-being. An esteemed expert in Otolaryngology (ENT) and Otology-Neurotology, Dr. Paco has served as a Surgical, Clinical, and Scientific Research Fellow at Radboud University Medical Center in the Netherlands and as an Honorary Research Fellow in Neuro-Otology. Accredited by Maxicare and PhilCare, he is currently a consultant for St. Luke’s Medical Center and Manila Doctors Hospital. Dr. Paco earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in 2006 and a Master of Science in Audiovestibular Medicine from University College London in 2013.

Fellow Felix Lopez 2000 was recognized as the Pillar of HR Awardee by the Philippines HR Group in 2024. This honor celebrates his exceptional contributions to human resource management, particularly his leadership in driving organizational development, enhancing employee engagement, and championing change management across major corporations in the Philippines. He is currently the Chief Human Resources Officer of Cebu Pacific Air and has held senior HR leadership roles at JG Summit Holdings and Universal Robina Corporation. A dedicated HR professional, Fellow Felix graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines Diliman with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2001.

Atty. Christopher Ryan Tan 2000 received the 2024 Young Business Icon Award from the Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (MACCII). This prestigious accolade recognizes his exceptional leadership, innovative strategies, and dedication to community building and sustainable development. He currently serves as a Board Director of the Organization of Socialized Housing Developers of the Philippines, President of the Center for Housing Advocacy and Independent Research Synergies, and Vice President for Administration and Legal Services at the Hausland Group—all while actively practicing law. Atty. Ryan earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2001, his Juris Doctor Degree from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law in 2005 and completed an executive course in International Housing Finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
