Two Upsilonians in the AFP Promoted to Brigadier General
Col. Alex Urriquia '86 has been designated as the new Chief of Dental Service and promoted to Brigadier General in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). As the Chief of Dental Service, Fellow Alex will oversee the dental health and well-being of all personnel within the AFP, ensuring the highest standards of oral healthcare and readiness for service.
This role includes advising the military leadership on dental health policies and programs to maintain operational efficiency and preparedness. Moreover, as Brigadier General, he is tasked with broader responsibilities, including the strategic management of resources and personnel, contributing to the overall leadership and success of the armed forces. He previously served as Chief of the Air Force Dental Service.
A graduate of the University of the Philippines Manila with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1992, the general furthered his education by completing a Master of Science in Dentistry, Master of Science in Public Management, and Master in National Security Administration.
Col. Patrick de Villa '89 has also been promoted to Brigadier General in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). Throughout his military service, he held the following leadership positions: Director of the Army Personnel Management Center, Chief of Staff of the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), and Commander of the 3rd Special Forces Battalion.
The general currently serves as the Deputy Commander of the Special Operations Command. He attended the University of the Philippines Diliman and the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), graduating in 1994. He also holds a master's degree in business management from the Asian Institute of Management (AIM).
