The Upsilon Sigma Phi alumni community is once again set to unite as Bangkaw sa Mindanao 2024 draws near. Slated for October 18 to 20, this year’s event will be held in Cagayan de Oro City, marking another exciting chapter for brotherhood, camaraderie, and regional celebration. With 100 brothers and counting already confirmed to attend, this promises to be a memorable gathering for all participants.

A Welcoming Tradition

The event will kick off on October 17 with a Welcome Dinner hosted by the Northern Mindanao Brods at the Orchid House (Residence of Chairman Tito Mora '78). This will be an opportunity for early arrivals to relax and reconnect before the main activities begin the following day.

Competitive Spirit on the Greens

On October 18, the excitement continues with the Sonny Garcia Memorial Cup at the prestigious Del Monte Golf Course. The tournament will start at 8:00 AM, where Brods will compete in a friendly yet spirited match. For non-golfers, a scenic Dahilayan Tour is scheduled, offering a peaceful way to enjoy the natural beauty of the region.

The day will conclude with a Dinner and Acoustic Night, hosted by Batch ’84, at Palladium, Mallberry Suites starting at 6:00 PM, fostering fellowship in a relaxed setting with live music.

Gari M. Tiongco Invitational Cup

On October 19, golfers will head to the Pueblo de Oro Golf Course for the Gari M. Tiongco Invitational Cup, a highlight of the event. Tee-off starts at 8:30 AM with several flights set to compete. For those seeking adventure, Whitewater Rafting on Cagayan de Oro’s famous rapids will be available, offering an adrenaline-pumping experience for ₱2,050 per person, including lunch.

The day will culminate with the Awarding and Fellowship Night at Luxe Hotel Poolside at 6:00 PM, where tournament winners will be recognized, and everyone will celebrate the spirit of brotherhood with a night of fellowship and fun.

Departure and Future Bonds

The event will wrap up on October 20 with a heartfelt Send-off, as Brods bid each other farewell, strengthened by the renewed bonds of friendship and fraternity. With a weekend packed with meaningful activities, exciting tournaments, and opportunities to reconnect, Bangkaw sa Mindanao 2024 will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on all attendees.

Official Hotel and Accommodations

Mallberry Suites has been designated the official hotel for the event, conveniently located at Limketkai Center, with SM Downtown and Ayala Mall within walking distance. Most Brods, previously booked at N Hotel, will now stay at Mallberry Suites, except for those who opted for Seda Centrio.
