Upsilon Sigma Phi Honors Alumni Fellows, New Officers Named and Board Members Elected in Fraternity's 20th Congress

The Upsilon Sigma Phi fraternity honored its outstanding alumni with the presentation of its highest award, the Upsilonian Noble & Outstanding Award (UNO) in ceremonies held at the Goldenberg Mansion inside the Malacañang Palace grounds in San Miguel, Manila last Friday, February 10, 2025. The event took place in conjunction with the fraternity's 20th Biennial Congress, which was held at the nearby Aguado Residence, also in San Miguel, Manila.

There were thirteen UNO awardees this year, with two of it's alumni fellows receiving the award posthumously.

Upsilon Sigma Phi Alumni Association Honors Excellence with the Upsilonian Noble & Outstanding (UNO) Awards

Honored were artist Romy Carlos, engineer Ernesto de Castro, Upsilon Sigma Phi North America (USPNA) founding chairman and past president Bing Yuvienco, environmentalist Renato Tayag Jr., lawyer and Secretary of Justice Jesus Crispin Remulla, University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) president and U.P. Regent Robert Aranton, banker, real estate developer and former Upsilon Sigma Phi Alumni Association (USPAA) president Thad Liamzon, educator and former U.P. Los Baños chancellor Fernando Sanchez, Speaker of the House of Representatives Martin Romualdez, ophthalmologist and Upsilon Medical Assistance Program (UMAP) prime mover Dr. Alan Austriaco, and veterinarian and businessman Cary Calimlim.

Former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and lawyer Jorge Gonzales were recognized posthumously with Philippine president Ferdinand "Bong Bong" Marcos Jr. accepting the award on behalf of his late father.

Earlier in the day, the USPAA elected the new members that will comprise its Board of Trustees for the 2025-2027 term. Lawyer Eric Pilapil was elected chairman with government executive Gerry Sirios elected president. There were fifteen other fellows elected to comprise the new board, led by John Guitierrez, Tito Mora, Alfred Jeanjaquet, Dominic Gonzales, Dr. Alan Austriaco, Rico Villareal, Robert Santiago, Czarevich Parra, Jose Paras, Ramon Pernia Jr., Cary Calimlim, Lester Ople, Erik Mendoza, Felipe Alpajora Jr. and Dr. Gene Tiongco.

The new Board of Trustees also named Jose Paras as its vice-president, Robert Santiago, treasurer and Javier Flores, corporate secretary.
